About Neighborhood Picks

We think the best business for the job is usually one that already works on your street. So we pick businesses one neighborhood at a time and say plainly how closely each one is tied to your area.

“Serves the city” isn't good enough

Most directories list every company that says it covers your city. That tells you very little. A company with an office ten minutes away, recent jobs on your block and neighbors who'd hire it again is a different proposition from one that drives in from the other side of the county once a year.

That's why every pick carries one of four coverage labels. The labels come from evidence, never payment. How we set them.

Four things we won't do

  • Sell a pick or a label. Payment buys a fuller profile or a marked sponsorship, nothing else.
  • Hide a sponsorship. Paid placements always say Sponsored and sit outside the picks.
  • Pass on your details to anyone you didn't choose. Quote requests go only to the companies you tick.
  • Leave a mistake standing. Corrections are noted on the page they affect. Corrections
